Matt Mullins, a singer-songwriter from Beckley, West Virginia, began writing songs shortly after high school. Before forming his current band, Matt Mullins & The Bringdowns, in 2016, he was part of groups like Old School Abbey and The Boatmen. The Bringdowns include lead guitarist Stuart Hill, drummer Dylan McInturff, and bassist Bob Campion. Their music blends various genres, resulting in a style they describe as “Appalachian Soul” or “Y’allternative Dad Rock,” influenced by artists such as Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell, and Tom Waits. They have released multiple albums, their newest being singles from “Learning From Letting Go”, which showcases their evolution in songwriting. Beyond music, Mullins is a middle school music teacher and basketball coach, reflecting his dedication to both his art and community.
